Thanksgiving Ideas and Crafts
The Thanksgiving Thankful Tree
 1. Use Brown construction, packing wrap, or grocery store bags for tree trunk and branches. Attach to the wall, a door or a window.
2. Cut out leaf shapes. You can get the leaf shapes by going to a "teacher" supply store and having them punched for you. Some scrapbook store will let you use their die cut machines if you buy the paper in their store. You could have a lot of fun with different papers. Another idea is to trace and cut your own or even buy a leaf punch (about 12 dollars but would last for years!).
3. At mealtime, have each member of the family write something for which they are thankful. Encourage the little guys to think of new things they are thankful for at each meal.
4. Attach the "thankful leaves" to tree branches and feel free to float some of them on the ground at the base of the trunk.
Thanksgiving Turkey Craft
 1. Here is an easy craft that just takes a "hand". Using construction paper or foam board, trace your child's hand.
2. Repeat step 1 two or more times and cut them out. Use red or orange earth tones. These will be the feathers for our gobble friend.
3. Make the body, collar, feet and hat. Use googlie eyes and a orange triangle for the beak. Don't forget to label with the child's name and age!
Fall Art Leaf Paintings
 1. Here's a great nature project. Have the kids grab a handful of leaves. Using craft paint or stamp pads ink up your leaves and press onto paper.
**It helps to have a spare piece of paper on top of the leaf when you press down to minimize painted fingers and tearing of leaves.
Cross of Thanks
 1. Start with a brown cross made from construction paper or foam paper.
2. Cut leaf shapes and acorn shapes in a variety of colors and varieties. Attach to cross. Use sharpie to write "Give Thanks".
**You could also write those things you are thankful for on the leaves with the sharpie before you attach them!
